The Fire Of “The Wrath Of God” Is Actually Satan’s Fire – Is 33:1, 10-17

  1. Satan is wrathful. Rev 12:12.
  2. Wrath and anger are sins. Col 3:8-9.
  3. Satan is the spoiler, the killer and the destroyer. John 10:10. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to KILL and and to DESTROY. . .
  4. Is 33:1 speaks of the spoiler that spoils and deals treacherously. “Spoil” could be and is also translated “destroy.” The verse says, “when thou shalt cease to spoil (destroy), thou shalt be spoiled (destroyed). . . “ The same thing happened at the cross of Christ. The spoiler there ceased from spoiling and was himself spoiled. Col 2:15 Old KJV. He who there dealt treacherously came to an end by his own device, the cross. Satan was there destroyed by his own counsel. Ps 5:10 KJV. Heb 2:14. “. . . that through death (the death of Jesus) He (Jesus) destroyed him who had the power of death, that is the devil. Is 33:1 is also speaking of Satan in similar type acts. If Satan had known at Calvary that he was destroying his own power, he would never have crucified the Lord of glory. 1 Cor 2:6-8.
  5. Satan’s own wrath (“the wrath of God”) poured out on Jesus at the cross, boomeranged back on Satan’s own head. Ps 5:10; 7:15-16; 9:15-16 and 10:2. The “wrath of God” poured out on Jesus at Calvary was actually the sinful wrath of Satan. The devil attacked Jesus and put Him on the cross. Through his own act there, Satan self-destructed.
  6. God does not sin. God is not Himself wrathful. God is not a wrathful sinner. He allows Satan to bring his sinful wrath, “the wrath of God,” against both believers and unbelievers just as God permitted Satan to do in Job 1 and 2, Luke 22:31-33; 1 Tim 1:18-20; 1 Cor 5:5 and in Is 33:1, 10-17. In each case God allows this for a good and redemptive purpose: to save, deliver, free, sanctify, sift, and teach the recipient(s) of Satan’s wrath. This scenario, repeated throughout the Bible, Old Testament and New, is the core truth of the message of the cross. Satan brings and causes all death thereby destroying the wicked who Satan’s own people. God then raises the faithful from the dead. Satan can’t raise the dead. God never kills. The believers die and rise with Christ. Rom 6:3-5; Gal 2:20; 2 Cor 5:14-15. God works all the negative death things of Satan together for positive resurrection and renewal good.
  7. Is 33:10-17, our main text here, shows us that the spoiler, Satan, and his people are destroyed by the fiery breath coming from the spoiler’s, Satan’s, OWN MOUTH. “YOUR BREATH, AS FIRE, SHALL DESTROY YOU.” “And the people (the unfaithful people enslaved to Satan) shalt be as the burnings of lime.” Is 33:11-12. Conversely, the exact same fire of the spoiler shall also deliver and free God’s people, those that “walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly, he that despiseth the gain of oppressions. Is 33:15.
  8. Bottom line: the fiery wrath of God actually comes from the fiery breath of the dragon, Satan’s own mouth. This fiery wrath is a two-edged sword; it both destroys and saves. The faithful are saved and delivered through the fire. Through faith, they are enabled to DWELL WITH (or come through) THE EVERLASTING BURNINGS! Is 33:14-15.

The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. WHO AMONG US SHALL DWELL WITH THE DEVOURING FIRE? WHO AMONG US SHALL DWELL WITH THE EVERLASTING BURNINGS? He that walketh righteously and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions. . . Is 33:14-15. The devouring fire and the everlasting burnings originate in and come from Satan. God allows this and uses it to destroy the wicked by their own counsel, at the same time, purifying and sanctifying the saints. God has NO FIERY WRATH OF HIS OWN! God truly is love! 1 John 4:8; Acts 10:38. Satan is the source of all fiery wrath of destruction!
